Expedition 33 Triumphs at the 2025's Gaming Honors
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded this past week, and in a stunning display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. The surprise role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive won the prestigious Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Best Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Adding to the studio's achievements, the gifted performers also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English was named Outstanding Lead Performance for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Actor for his work as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself was honored as Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its developers won seven awards throughout the show.
Other notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which won Outstanding Audio and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Outstanding Independent Game and PC Game of the Year. Notably, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the audience, with only 4 awards—Critics' Pick, Rising Star, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamer Selection—determined by critics.
