Miami recorded eighty-six first-half scores versus the Grizzlies

The Heat secured a decisive 146 to 114 victory against the Grizzlies in their first NBA game after guard Terry Rozier was arrested over alleged unlawful sports betting.

Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups was additionally arrested as part of a broad FBI investigation into sports betting. The two individuals deny the allegations.

League Commissioner Adam Silver 'Disturbed' by Recent Events

Addressing the arrests for the first time, league head Silver said he was "very upset" by the incidents of the recent days.

"Nothing is more critical to the league and supporters than the fairness of the competition," he told Amazon Prime. "Therefore I had a pit in my stomach. It was very upsetting."

Silver further said an NBA investigation into the player's actions in March 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a match he played for the Hornets against the New Orleans Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"It was brought to our attention by the authorities and the gambling firms," he continued.

"We investigated that situation and were very transparent about it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, honestly, couldn't find anything.

"The federal government has subpoena power... [it] can impose penalties, can do all kinds of things that the league office is unable to.

"Therefore, we've been cooperating from that point. Naturally, what they revealed recently was an indictment.

"Moreover 30 months after, he has not been found guilty of anything, in justice to Rozier.

"Clearly, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a balance here between upholding rights and investigating."
