The Manager's Stance on The Scottish Club

McKenna described the Glasgow giants as "a really big soccer institution" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "long-term project" with the Championship side.

The mid-thirties took charge of Ipswich in recent years and led them to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they managed only a handful of victories last season as they were relegated back to the Championship and they currently sit 12th in the Championship.

"I have not had such discussions," the English capital native former Northern Ireland young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my concentration is this week.

"I have a special job here at a special club. And we're at a really important stage of the campaign. Everything outside of that hasn't touched my radar."

Background and Contractual Aspects

Reports indicate that McKenna would be open to speaking to the Scottish side given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when questioned about these. "I don't think all people has to publicly and declare what they were, but naturally it's a really big football club."

The coach signed a new four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his reported buyout clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he responded. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, if I did, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!

"I tackle this job like I will remain Town's coach indefinitely. I know that's not invariably going to be the case, but I'll always give maximum effort as while I am here."

Bellamy's Situation

The former striker represented Celtic on loan from the Magpies in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Wales striker is minded to complete the current World Cup campaign, a stance that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from assuming the Celtic job.

The Welsh squad are currently third in their qualifying group behind leaders the Red Devils and second-placed North Macedonia.

Wins over Liechtenstein and their rivals in next month would book their position in the final qualifying round, but they are all but guaranteed of making those, thanks to a successful European competition campaign, should they not end up Group J runners-up.

Given his present stance, the Wales manager, whose contract expires after the European Championship, would not be available until after the play-offs at the minimum.
