The original stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will return for the upcoming Hunger Games series instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping.
News has broken that beloved stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
A Significant Return to Panem
The actors will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their cameos will likely occur in a future-set scene, given that the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.
This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the global Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who was behind most of the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's story are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.

- Ralph Fiennes is cast as a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
