The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight year.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Season of Consistency

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she became the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Sabalenka finished the season with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in prize money.

She garnered nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a new level".

Additional WTA Award Recipients

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking 13-month break after the arrival of her first child and returning to the sport earlier this season.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after winning their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five finals.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third time.
